Business Title: National Association of Youth in Agriculture
Business Description:
NAYA is involved in advocacy, education, training and other activities that lead to an increased youth participation in agriculture and rural development. NAYA is also the linkage between policy makers and the youth on matters concerning agricultural development. NAYA's mandate also concerns education at both the primary school level as well as young persons who seek to engage in aspects of agriculture as a career.
Business History:
Subsequent to CAFY’s launching in 2002 the National Association of Youth in Agriculture Incorporated of Dominica (NAYA Inc.) was launched on June 30th 2003. NAYA under the mandate of CAFY has advocated for effective youth representation throughout the agricultural sector and through several programs/activities has cementing itself as the voice for Dominica’s youth on issues relating to the sustainable development of Agriculture and the environment.
NAYA thus far has been the most productive chapter of the CAFY. In November of 2005 NAYA was elected to lead CAFY and now holds the presidency of this regional organization. NAYA just recently concluded the official hosting of the executive meeting of CAFY in Dominica from the 8th – 10th March and would like to take this opportunity to thank the Ministry of Agriculture for the commendations given to NAYA on the hosting of this activity.
Business Aim:
To be an effective NGO that spearheads youth involvement in agriculture as it relates to advocacy, education and training.
Business Mission:
NAYA envisions itself as an organization that can effectively channel youthful energies to enhance the sustainable development initiative of Dominica. NAYA sees the agricultural sector as the pillar to Dominica's future development.
Directions:
Located in the Botanic Gardens, in one of the offices at the Division of Agriculture.
